West Elementary is located on Seventh Avenue in the city of Antigo. The school is home for 4 year old kindergarten through 3rd grade students. West is a school-wide Title building and our K-3 classrooms receive the Achievement Gap grant, which is a federally funded program offering more opportunities for teacher growth to support student achievement.
In addition to Title and AGR, West also has Special Education programs for students with cognitive, learning and emotional or behavioral disabilities. We have speech and language clinicians to serve students with speech and language disabilities. Art, music, STEAM and physical education are taught by a specialist for all students on a weekly basis. A school counselor meets with students throughout the year in classroom activities as well as individually and as needed.
We offer 1:1 technology for all students. Our 4K and K students receive iPads, our 1st grade students receive touch screen Chromebooks and our 2nd and 3rd graders receive Chromebooks. We also have a learning management system called Canvas to support learning.
There is also the opportunity for caregiver involvement through our Family Advisory Team & CHAMPs organization.
The West staff is committed to caring for and educating each and every student. We strive to create a sense of belonging with families/students/staff.
